The GCC exists to promote quality and ethical coaching practices, build meaningful connections with peers, and provide inclusive support for coaches across the world. We offer resources, activities, conversations, and collaboration needed for coaches to thrive.
For our very first Global Coaches Coalition profile, we have the honor of introducing Coach Nikki Anarado. Nikki hails originally from Maryland in the US, and she coaches mostly women around their dating desires, and preparing them for dating. Her signature program is called Rediscover Your Allure! Now that is a topic we can all relate to!
Nikki has been in the relationship/love industry as a group leader, coach, writer, panelist, discussion facilitator and moderator for over 15 years. She holds a Professional Coaching Certification (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is also a Certificated Professional Coach (CPC) through the Relationship Coaching Institute.
Our intention in providing these interviews with Coach Entrepreneurs is to give all coaches a glimpse into the rewards and challenges of being a Coach - What are the challenges you face? What trips you up? Is it the coaching process itself, or developing the business? Here are some excerpts from our conversation:
GCC: Hi, Nikki! Welcome to our inaugural profile for the Global Coaches Coalition! How did you come to Coaching as your career choice?
NIKKI: I was in a corporate job as a developer of proposals for large contracts with government entities. I knew I was the best on my team, but it just wasn’t my wheelhouse. I needed to be creative, so I knew I had to make the leap to be an entrepreneur.
GCC: What do you bump into around building the business?
NIKKI: The number one thing I run into is details! In writing proposals, you can’t miss a single small detail, and I was good at mastering that. So in my own business, I am always thinking of them! My head is always full of these thoughts about details!
GCC: How did you resolve that issue?
NIKKI: I talked with a colleague who knows me well, and I realized that I needed to get all the details “out of my head” by writing them down somewhere. However, I knew that if I put them in a random notebook, I would never look at them again. Then, I thought, “AHA! I’ll put them in Asana!”
GCC: What is Asana?
NIKKI: Asana is an app for organizing daily activities, and I can coordinate with my co-workers. I used it a lot in my corporate job, so I thought it would be a good way to get all the details out of my head and into some organized system of delegating and maintaining accountability.
GCC: How did that work out?
NIKKI: It was great. I am able to contact my assistant in the morning and tell him what I need him to do, and then I can focus on what I need to do.
GCC: Where do you find the self-discipline to create your own structure for your day as an entrepreneur, versus being an employee, doing what someone else tells you to do?
NIKKI: I always have to remind myself that the things I don’t necessarily like or want to do are going to get me what I really want, which is freedom.
GCC: Freedom is a big concept and means a lot of different things. What are your top two freedoms?
NIKKI: Time and money!
GCC: There she is! And what’s important to you about time and money?
NIKKI: I want to have a business that is up and running, and gives me the freedom to bring programs to the community, for example at churches. I want to reach out to women who are in survival mode, and who cannot imagine not being in survival mode.
GCC: So what you’re saying is that being of service is one of your core values, and having the time and money freedom allows you to do that.
NIKKI: Yes! That’s exactly it!
GCC: Thank you, Nikki, for your candor in talking with me today. I know that many coaches here will resonate with what you have brought to our conversation. We all get tripped up by something, and you’re a great example of what successful coaches do: We connect with ourselves, we connect with others for support, and we take action to find solutions. This was a delightful conversation, and I’m so happy to have met you.
NIKKI: Thank you, I’m so happy to meet you and to be a part of the Global Coaches Coalition!
